Letters from the Heart

In this unique and engaging improvised theatre show, the actors will be writing letters on stage, in real-time. Each letter inspires and becomes the seed for a spontaneous scene, where actors bring the words to life through impromptu storytelling and character creation, developing themes, scenarios and emotions. These letters can range from heartfelt confessions and historical documents to whimsical notes, practical emails, complaints and fictional correspondences.

The use of letters adds a personal and intimate layer, making each scene deeply connected to the audience’s contributions, who will suggest an initial idea for the entire performance. This might involve a heartfelt response to a love letter, a comedic misunderstanding from a hastily written note, a quick WhatsApp message or a dramatic revelation from a long-lost correspondence.

The performance is a rollercoaster of emotions and genres, with each letter serving as a springboard for the actors’ and audience’s creativity and imagination. The interplay between the written word and the spontaneous performance showcases the improviser’s quick thinking, storytelling skills and ability to build rich, compelling narratives on the fly. This format ensures that every show is a fresh and original theatrical experience, filled with unexpected twists and turns.
